Also you're completely right about the Apple's philosophy regarding the solutions, they provide you something and you MUST use it in the way that someone else decided (no other ways without a little bit of hacking). Honestly I've tried the iPhone (im living in italy) and the result without a wide cover of WiFi services (and sometimes the 3G network) is a completely useless phone where over the 80% of the fancy functions aren't  usable.
